The San Mateo Canyon Trail is a popular route, offering a moderate 6-mile journey through the wilderness. This trail provides stunning views of the canyon and opportunities to spot diverse wildlife, including deer, coyotes, and numerous bird species. The trail follows San Mateo Creek, which flows year-round. Another notable trail is the Tenaja Falls Trail, a relatively short but rewarding hike that leads to a series of waterfalls. The falls are impressive during the spring and early summer when water flow is at its peak. The 1.5-mile trail to the falls is moderately challenging, with some steep sections.
