San Diego, California's second-largest city, is known for its pleasant climate, 70 miles of pristine beaches and the zoos. Balboa Park, home to the San Diego Zoo, is a cultural hub with 17 museums, botanical gardens, and the historic Old Globe Theatre. The San Diego Zoo is one of the top zoos in the world and has commitment to conservation and education, evident throughout the grounds.  It is home to Giant Panda’s and many other endangered species including both plants and animals. Just outside the city, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park allows animals to roam in large, open enclosures that mimic their natural habitats. On guided safaris visitors can see giraffes, rhinos, and other exotic animals up close.

Mission Bay, a man-made bay is a place for water activities, including sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and jet skiing. It is a great place for picnicking, cycling along the scenic paths, or relaxing on the beaches. Families can enjoy Belmont Park, an amusement park located on the beachfront, which features the historic Giant Dipper roller coaster and other fun rides.

La Jolla, an upscale coastal neighborhood, is famous for its stunning beaches, cliffside views, and vibrant marine life. La Jolla Cove is a popular spot for snorkeling and diving, with its calm waters and abundant sea life, including colorful Garibaldi fish and playful sea lions. The tide pools at La Jolla Shores and the nearby Birch Aquarium at Scripps provide opportunities to explore the ecosystem.

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve just north of La Jolla, has dramatic cliffs, unspoiled beaches, and miles of hiking trails. The rare Torrey Pine trees, found only here and on Santa Rosa Island, are a significant aspect of the reserve. Hikers can enjoy panoramic ocean views from the trails, like the Razor Point Trail and the Guy Fleming Trail.

The Gaslamp Quarter, a lively downtown neighborhood, is known for its Victorian-era buildings, trendy restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. Old Town San Diego is the oldest  settled area in San Diego and is the site of the first European settlement. The areas culinary scene and entertainment includes many restaurants influenced by its proximity to Mexico.
