A short distance from the Sculpture Garden is the historic Stone Arch Bridge. This former railroad bridge, built in 1883, spans the Mississippi River and offers views of Saint Anthony Falls, the only natural major waterfall on the upper Mississippi. The Stone Arch Bridge is a popular spot for walking, biking, and photography. It provides a unique vantage point to observe the power of the river and the surrounding historic mill district, which played a significant role in the city's development as a milling powerhouse in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam is a National Parks Service site with a visitor center that provides exhibits about the falls and its place in Minnesota history.
